By the time you get this post we'll probably already be there, it's 3pm sat. we about 36hrs. out of Astoria. We have been at sea for 24 days we are all happy to be headed home. We caught fish, no one got hurt, and I think we all still like each other, so I guess the trip was a sucess. I worry about the future of fishing now more than ever before. You are going to have to be real smart to make it in this game anymore. I have spent this whole trip looking at my operation looking for ways to cut costs. We are all going to be paying a lot more for food, I know we already are but I can see some real shocks coming for people as far as food is concerned. The producers like myself will get a little more for our product, but nowhere near what the rising cost of production is. What I do is not a job, it's a way of life, one of many in the US that we should do a better job of protecting. I know one thing, my crew watches too much Deadleist Catch, they both now have Mohawk hair cuts, real stylish. John D. asked a question about the boat, john I am also a Jon D. We all know now that I fish, my name is Jon, John D you know boats, this vessel is 62/19/8.5 aft house very heavy built, this boat will always bring us home. We have two aux. power plants, one a 20kw Nothern LIghts Lugger power, also a 50kw Lima Iszuzu. With all this power you can see that fuel is a major issue, we have gone through about 6000gal. this month. There is a big fire near my house, the Paradice Ridge fire, it has consumed about a quarter or so of the King Range so far. Real fire probs. in Calif. we have been watching the situation, I live in a place that has had very bad fires in the past. Going to take my truck and camper for a little trip to pick up the puppy, don't worry TT we caught enough fish to feed those kids for 20 or 30 years. EAT TUNA I'LL DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO KEEP THE COST DOWN
