On the chance that Honey's humans are here I thought that you'd like to know that the devastation that the 'atmospheric river' visited upon the road to up to the Champion Spark-Plug Mine did NOT affect her grave site. Just barely past there is a 8'-10' deep gouge across the road that renders it impassible.

To give some idea of just how bad it is, it took a friend and I in low range about an hour to work our way up that high from the road along the Rancher's fence. I understand that the locals are already starting to work with the Feds to get the road repaired.

The big washout in main drainage prior to reaching the lower parking was there a couple of years ago and the road was in poor shape - compared to our prior visits. About halfway up from the hydro plant was a nasty crossing of a braided wash that Julie spotted tire placement for us along the edge of a drop off on the eroded downhill side. It looked that most visitors were stopping and parking right before it.

Your report makes me curious about the current damage and hoped for repair.

Did you walk up to the camp?

We did not. The 8'+ deep vertical sided wash-out that stopped us is maybe 3/4 of the way up the alluvial flow to the canyon mouth and it was way too late in the day for the distance.

To give some idea of what cut across the road:

Can see the beginning of the debris and damage to the right of the cut. It is several hundred yards wide at the Rancher's fence and filled with chunks of dead trees, large and small boulders, and a soft white material that I must assume is what the mine was there for.
