improvement suggestions: thermal, interior coating, hand rail?

I bought a Fleet about 3 years ago and love it.

A few things I'm wondering about:

1. We have the thermal liner but no heater, which is what we wanted. It does get chilly on our fall trip in the Sierras. Any suggestions for heavier duty thermal protection/fabric?

2. Is there something we could coat the wood/veneer with to make it a little more resistant to scratches and dent?

3. We bought an excellent collapsible set of Brophy stairs--have you heard of anyone making a detachable hand rail?
