Ok, so I have this "new to me" Grandby. It was reskinned once and during the reskin it looks like the build tag was removed an never reinstalled. I don't have any information as to the serial # and year (which, unfortunately the insurance company is looking for).

Is there any way I can insure this thing or possibly get a a new serial number and possibly a year (since it was for all intense purposes rebuilt)?

Anyone have any ideas - or do I go uninsured (which I am reluctant to do as I'm one of those people that is over-prepared for the worst).

If I recall correctly the serial is written on the inside up at the bed in the front, potentially hidden by carpet.

It had come up in a post long ago..............

I must be tired

I didn't even think to search the site for serial number....

Will check. Thannks for knocking my head!!

That didn't work...

Ok, so when the camper was reskinned, the part that had the "penned" serial # apparently was replaced as well....

You might be hosed then. Stan would probably be the only guy who might know another way to sort it out.

Insurance

do I go uninsured (which I am reluctant to do as I'm one of those people that is over-prepared for the worst).

For me, insurance was a rider that did not change my monthly cost. There is little reason NOT to insure!

I'd try asking at my insurance company for a manager or specialist and see what they recommend.

Hey Scootr74

take a look at this forum thread, it might help ...

let me know if you have any other questions, I would be gald to help if I can

worst case if you can't find a serial number, maybe get creative and make up your own serial number and write it on the camper frame in the same place. I have heard of other FWC owners doing this in your situation and it has always worked out just fine for them.

Hey Scootr

Been swamped this week with stuff (sorry for the delays).

Trying to get un-burried next coule of days.

By looking at those pictures, I would say your camper is probably a 1980 - 1984 Model --- if I had to take an exact guess I would say 1982.

Hope this helps.

Stan, ... Let me know if you can take a crack on the year! Thanks!!
