Took a short trip to the KOFA National Wildlife Refuge to climb Castle Dome Butte. The trail goes for about 1.5 miles up a dry wash. Then the fun begins. It is very steep loose rock and gravel with rock cairns to mark the way and a choice of what route to take. This was the hardest hike I have been on with my 1 1/2 year old new hip.I stoped about 3 or 4hundred feet from the top but my friend Frank made it all the way,I decided to stop and save some energy for the equally hard trip down. There is always next year. Here are a couple of pictures taken by Frank.I resized the pictures but could only fit 2 Iwill try to post some more.Google Castle Dome Az for more info.
