Ok Im leaving tomorrow so its really last minute, but Im looking for recomendations for my trip to Montana. I was planning on going to the Bitterroot National Forest Area but was reading about a large fire they had there a few years back and I guess its been logged to hell too. So Im open to other National Forest areas. Im coming from California, once I get into Montana Im limited to three days, so It should be within reasonable distance of the Idaho border. Im looking to get away so Im not interested in pavement, towns, campgrounds, and National/State Parks. Any info would be appreciated.

I personally find the burned out parts of the mountains fascinating, especially as there has been a couple of years for the growth to return. With the incredibly wet Spring/early Summer we've had I think you will find plenty to enjoy.

There has been logging in the burned sections but there is still plenty of forest in the Bitterroot area.
