Looking for a Swift in British Columbia

I currently have a Ford Ranger with an older model Eagle Shell. My husband and I love it and use it in the fall and spring. We are mainly cyclists that use tents in the summer. Unfortunately our Border Collie/Pyrenees is now too big for the cab of the Ranger and it is also too small for added passengers. I would like to try and find a Nissan Frontier Crew Cab with a 5 foot bed......which would mean looking for another four wheel camper.
It would be nice to have a furnace and possibly a stove although that is not a priority.
 
Janice, have you thought of adding a propex furnace and other mods to your Eagle shell. We have a RANGER with an Eagle shell, over the last few years I have added a number of cabinets. The first mod was a cabinet by the door which contains a Proper furnace, one burner stove and space for all our cooking gear. We mostly cook outside and can easily grab the two boxes that hold our cooking gear, but if bad weather forces us inside we can do smoke meals on the one burner stove. Just a thought.

I don't think you'll have a problem selling your Eagle if you go that route. Good luck.
 
If it's just because the Eagle is too long, lots of people put 80" long campers in a 61" bed. It will stick out to the end of the tailgate. I've been looking into an ATC Bobcat in my Chevy Colorado.

Thank you for both those suggestions. Larryqp, could you send me a picture of your furnace/stovetop? If we could continue to use our existing Eagle camper on our Ranger AND also use it on a possible future truck with a 5 foot bed,then I would gladly do some wanted modifications!

Here are photos of the kitchen cabinet open, closed and with the furnace showing, also the propane regulator. The one burner stove runs off a 1 lb propane tank or butane cartridge, can be taken outside. It sits on a removable large flat pan, (cookie sheet size) to catch spills and easy cleanup. The furnace runs off an external 10lb propane tank and is plumbed with a regulator and quick connect. Combustion air and Exhaust is vented thru the floor of the Eagle and then thru the bed of the truck.

I'm in the process of making a change to the way the lid opens and also going to replace the visible wood with birch plywood for a better look, but functionally it will be pretty much the same. I'll document my built on this forum when I finish a couple more things. I keep making minor changes.

I can't access my spare tire with my tail gate in the down position, so I removed it.

That's very neat. Thanks for the pictures. This could solve my dilemma. I can fix up our Eagle, use it with our Ranger and look around for a Frontier, keeping the Eagle. It took me over a year to find it initially.
