Lowell Fire Hwy 80 7-25-15

Coming out of Truckee this afternoon saw smoke from a fire. Wife thought it was the Hwy 50 fire, I said it looks in the wrong location. As we got closer it looked to be by the Nevada City area. When we got home found we saw the Lowell fire just starting. This fire was building fast as we drove by. Hope Lighthawk and Ski3pins are safe.

My inlaws live in Nevada City.

Off of Red Dog (something like that?)

They have been asked to evacuate.

Evacuations are south of Red Dog. Just a few miles south of Nevada City.
I went to the airpark this afternoon to watch CalFire in full attack mode. Very impressive.
It seems the fire laid down a bit towards evening with lessening winds.
We heard the bombers running until 830pm and there's rumor that some evacs are being rescinded.

I was spending the afternoon down by Parks Bar, in Yuba County.
