Most Midwest campgrounds are closed due to the virus and social distancing in full swing. We have been only venturing out for needed supplies with gloves and face coverings. We took delivery of our new F-150 and been anxiously awaiting to head out on a trip. I finished camper prep and loaded our Grandby for a road trip. I have a friend with a private farm five hours away used for a hunting/fishing destination. I’ve been traveling to his farm for twenty five years hunting and fishing. After a phone call we got the thumbs up to camp on the property. Preparations were made camper stocked for a three night stay. Our only stop would be for fuel only no entry into the store. Gloves used to fuel and disinfectant on the credit card after fueling. Portable toilet in the camper to avoid any public facilities and possibly being exposed to COVID-19. The weather report looked excellent dry and mild for camping.
Loaded for the maiden voyage.
Going from a standard cab to a super cab for Paige comfort for all.
Camp set on a hill overlooking 600 acres of prime wildlife habitat.
This farm is very diverse in habitat types CRP habitat, grasses, timbered draws, ponds and creeks. All midwestern upland birds present turkey, quail and pheasants. Mammals of all species including bobcats, badgers, whitetail deer, and a rare cougar. Songbirds are here in numbers with a very diverse species count.
Our view for the evening show binoculars and wine. Gobblers displaying for hens every evening at 7:00.
No trip is complete without getting Carol on a few pic fish. Rarely do I leave home without my 519 in tow. This completed our social distancing trip and putting the F-150 to the test. I’m glad to report the Ford didn’t disappoint on overall performance. Be safe all, enjoy when you can it’s a short ride.
