Hello, I have a Hawk shell with a roll-over couch.
I purchased a Lagun table mount, I'd like to mount it on the passenger side of my camper, to the couch.
However, I need a large spacer to get the table arm to clear the edge of the couch cushions.
Lagun includes a spacer, but it's much smaller than what I'd need.
I think I honestly need a piece of wood from a 2x4 to use to get the spacing I need.
My only concern is that I might weaken or damage the wood from the couch. I'd probably drill holes for really long bolts to run all the way through the 2x4 piece, the Lagun mounting plate, and the couch. I'd then put big washers and nuts on the interior side of the couch to hold everything in place (as opposed to just mounting the Lagun bracket to the 2x4 piece, and then mounting the 2x4 piece to the couch piece).
Is that problematic? Should I mount on the driver side instead, where I wouldn't need to clear couch cushions, and I wouldn't need such a dramatic spacer? It's easier to access the interior side of the couch board than it is to access the same area on the driver side. Plus, I'd like to fix up some shelving for that area at some point, and I'd like to not have the Lagun leg in the way all the time.
The guys at FWC Bozeman recommended the passenger side.
Anyone have any insight or info? Thanks!
