Mounting Surf Racks/solar

I am new to campers and want to mount racks for my surf boards and a new solar panel. I have my car yakima racks and the mounting kit for the solar. My question is how do I successfully drill holes through the roof without messing anything up. Any suggestions?

You will need to screw them into the frame members running lenght wise down the roof. Here's a thread from my installation (not Yakima) but should give you an idea of what you need to do. Also, do a search on roof racks and you'll find other posts as well. Good luck

I have a very good library of customer pictures with all types of racks so you can see how they mounted them.

I can also show you how we mount them here at the factory with sample pictures.

Once you know where the roof frame members are, it is not too hard to install the racks. Just make sure to seal them up well as you are installing them.
