This has been mentioned many, many times but every new generation of owners want to have it both ways and mount all sorts of adventure goodies on the sidewalls or above their campers in order to have the real "Adventure travel " experience.
You were smart to investigate the wall structure first.

If I want to hang things I'd work off of known strong points. Like the jack mounts (with the jacks off, of course). Or off the bed rails. But I prefer not to, as stuff tend to reach out and grab passing vegetation if I do.
