Nor Cal to Spokane Fri-Sun, Road Conditions?

I know somebody that potentially wants to head up to Spokane Washington this week Friday/Sat. Does anybody know what the road conditions are like? I’ve driven from Woodland to Portland many times but I’ve never taken the eastern side of Oregon all the way up to Spokane. Are the roads up there gnarly right now? Or are they even open? Best to tell him to stay home? He has a 4x4. Or maybe head the other way from Reno up to Idaho and go around the back way? I think he’s crazy. But I wanted to give him better advice from maybe people who live up in that area. Thanks for any tips and tricks.

Oregon DOT Tripchek is his best and most up to date road conditions source.

Washington DOT has a similar online data base.

I 84 in the Columbia gorge has been impacted lately.

It all depends on how important his trip is and how patient he is....he should double or triple all his travel time and have severe weather gear and a big credit card in his pocket.

Is this trip to look at a camper ?

First comment -getting over to the east side here in California-have fun but need to do it before this afternoon because latest storm will probably close most of the passes (32, 299, 36, 50, I-80 etc)after that! Stan-as of right now, 395 from Susanville North is nasty with rain, snow wind and flooding until sometime late Sunday (at best)-need 4x4 at a minimum. I've made that run up to the Tri-cities (family in Pasco) allot over the years and some of those low passes in Oregon can be tricky-plenty of places to camp our along the way, next to 395! Lot's of ways to dodge around weather on the east side but could get to be fun north of Burns-again many places to camp when pass closes! 97 from K-Falls through Bend might be better, so ask Mark BC about that way!

Still have lots of family and friends in Spokane, weather is mixed. Highways are clear right now but winter driving conditions. More cold weather in the forecast but the 4-5 foot drifts that were in eastern Washington have been cleared. Usually the worst part of the drive is through the Columbia Gorge, that can get ice storms and become a mess.
