Not Happy with Dometic

My CFX75DZ fridge/freezer (not CFX3) lost adjustability with the “+” button. It’ll adjust down but not up. I’ve tried spraying contact cleaner but no help. The button still has a tactile “click” but no change in temp, which leads me to believe the problem is with the board underneath. Debating buying the board and attempting to change it out myself rather than taking it to a service center. Does anybody have experience or ideas with this?

I know issues crop up with appliances and I shouldn’t take umbrage over this but unfortunately, our Dometic RV 2-way absorption fridge also took a dump a couple of weeks ago…10 days after the 2-year warranty expired. All I’m getting from the company is ‍♂️, which helps explain the title of this post.

Quick follow-up: I contacted Dometic USA by phone to inquire about purchasing an upper control board so that I could repair it myself. Cutting to the chase, they don’t stock parts and suggested I search the aftermarket. That just seems…weird, to be polite about it. The ONLY two aftermarket sources I found are located in Australia. A big shoutout to Allvolts Electric in Broome for the quick responses and help.

I was able to fix the issue myself by completely removing the upper control board (no easy feat) and spraying the button more thoroughly. I’m not sure I have long-term confidence about this, though. For now, the “up” button is working again. Since it seems that the problem is mechanical in nature, it dawned on me (duh!) that I might be able to use the wi-fi app to control the temp. Not convenient but doable.

I've kind of lost confidence with Dometic too especially after they purchased Fantastic Fans... had terrible customer service and had to "fight" with them about their instructions on the fan install even though their own install guide was posted on their site and they said it was wrong.... what??????

Fairness update: their online help line finally responded with a schematic of the unit and two domestic aftermarket parts referrals. Seems that if you have an issue it’s best to contact them online rather than calling.

Apparently Dometic has swallowed up Front Runner. I visited the local showroom and they indicated that full takeover won’t happen until next year.

Oh well…the “up” button fix was short-lived. I’ll be checking parts availability with the domestic suppliers listed by Dometic, otherwise the Aussies get my money. I was hoping to use the Wi-Fi app to control the temp in the short term but to toggle that function you must use…the “up” button. ‍♂️
