Went last year for one day and that was enough for me to see what I wanted to. Many people camp onsite all weekend and FWC has a space available for owners but there are lots of people and I prefer my camping less crowded.

Its good to attend once. Not something I'd like to do all the time. If you need gear, unsure what vehicle or need training then its a great event to attend.

We've been to OX-West 3 times, twice to the old Mormon Lake site and once to Ft Tuthill.

OX-West has by far the largest attendance and vendor participation. The event is getting quite crowded now. But, darn near everything you see or read about online or in print for overlanding will be on display at OX-West. And then some stuff you've never seen or heard of.

If you've never been, the cost of admission is worth it. Attending has become quite expensive in recent years, especially the Overland Experience package. A weekend pass with camping is still a pretty good deal, but, the al la carte features can drive attendance cost up as well.

Sunday Only ticket isn't really worth it as vendors will start packing up in the morning to hit the road/trail. If weather is bad, like last year, expect Sunday to be a non-event as vendors/attendees will get an even earlier start departing.

If you are a newbie it is a big eye opener. 1st year bought that expensive Experience package and I experienced a lot of mud. This past year they changed venues (OE East) and I just camped with friends I met last year.

I was looking to buy my camper and Bundutec was going to be there again. I liked being able to see the item and talk about it. Saved me going to Iowa so worth every penny.

Next year maybe if I decide to try the experience package again for driving instruction. Beyond that it's just an expensive camping weekend.

I started way back in Amado AZ and have been to 3 or 4. I agree that this is the place to check out rigs and equipment and to get your creative juices flowing. But for me, the biggest takeaway has been people. I met a couple of like-minded drivers who have become good friends even though we live in different areas. That lead to trips and meeting others who have become friends, also. We do OEX every 2 or 3 years and that seems to be just about right for us.

One bonus: there will be “show deals” to be had. And many times, larger vendors will bring your purchase with their load saving you shipping costs. It’s worth investigating up front.
