This link showed up on Google+ ("What's hot") this morning:

"Focusing Basics -- Depth of Field and Aperture"

A well-done, well-illustrated explainer using non-jargon terms about this fundamental of photography.
Even if you use a point-and-shoot -- even just a phone-camera, this is something worth understanding if you don't already understand it, and it's probably worth taking a look even if you do (I do and I did ;)).

It's so funny that you should post this today. I was thinking of making a day trip to the Carrizo Plains this weekend to see if the wild flowers are in bloom and was thinking about f/ ratios in general terms. Thanks.

This thread could be used as a catch-all for other photography-related questions and answers and tips, etc.

Whether it's photos in Trip Reports, photos of camper-mod projects or photos of "my new rig", photos are a big part of this forum...so seems relevant.

Good info that all photogs should know. I was shooting a woodpecker in the dimly lit orchard this evening (iso 1250, f5/6, 1/500s), and boring Susan with the old discussion about trade offs 'tween iso/aperture/shutter.

yeah, more birds shot. I know.
