Hi
We have a new Kestral model and love it. We have run at least 5 tanks of water to flush the plastic taste out of the water tank. Is there anything to speed up the plastic taste removal? Besides filling it with tequilla
Thanks

Also, has anyone had or heard of a problem with a side mount for roof racks. It seems to have lots of bite when I bolted the bracket to the roof?

I don't know about the water tank - I never had an issue with too much plastic taste although I don't often drink the water from the tank as I prefer to drink from gallon jugs of spring water that I pack. I'm not sure I understand what you are asking about the rack. Do you mean is there an issue with hanging the bikes off the back? Not sure what you mean about "bite"?

Thanks for the reply. I'm wondering about the kayak rack which is mounted to brackets bolted to the side of the roof. The bike rack seems to work great bolted through to the body of the camper. I guess the plastic water taste will eventualy go away

Another member here (LqHikers) mounted their racks into the side of the roof with no issues. It may in fact be stronger than going straight into the top. I wouldn't worry if it feels solid. You should be able to find his thread searching "roof racks".

cycle tanks of water.

do this:

assuming you have finished sanitizing it...or its brand new.

fill the tank, let it sit filled for two days, dump it. leave the tanks empty for a few days.
repeat...

after a few tanks cycled it should improve.

the more you use it the better it gets.

As with all things camper I would think Jack Daniels would work best.

The bad taste does go away with flushing, usage and time to let the new plastic tank offgas the foul plastic taste. Mine was very bad initially, but it's fine now and water tastes as it should.
