Around mid October we made a short trip to Calavaras Big Trees SP.
Had a nice spot with not many other campers around.
Spent time each day for walks through the North Grove. These trees are always so beautiful to
look at.The view never gets old.

When we had our cabin just up the road from the park we spent many a day enjoying the park.
Several winters we even got to ski the trail through the grove.
That was always a special treat as the snow level doesn't get that low to get a great ski.

Also went up to Mosquito Lk to find some color and fish both didn't work out.

At night walked out into the meadow where we camped and enjoyed the stars and Milky Way.
What a treat.

Last January 2017 the "walk through" tree fell during a big winter storm.
The first picture below is an old one of the tree and us on a ski through the trail.
The next picture is of the fallen tree. The park rangers are working to establish the age of the tree.
