Tagging on to Bill’s recent DV post we will be visiting next week. We have not had the pleasure since, as an early married couple, before settling down with children. To break up the initial drive, we will be spending the first night at Red Rock Canyon SP. It looks interesting in itself. Heading into DV the next day ...
I am looking to to be dispersed along with a couple reserved nights at Furnace Creek. Between Marble Canyon, Echo Canyon, Hole in Wall, (Cottonwood, Mosaic?) & wanting to take a hike in the area that next morning, could I please get a priority, maybe a #1, of where to spend my first night? Getting further ideas as we explore. Thanks ahead for any suggestion.

My vote is drive in to Marble Canyon as far as you are comfortable. Then walk up Marble Canyon where you will see this and this:

Thanks AWG. Marble was my top inclination. I appreciate a second on that emotion.

That was going to be my suggestion as well. As AWG says, "Drive as far as you are comfortable." And, I would add, allow yourself a couple of hours for the drive. Once you get to the area where camping is allowed (I believe that is eight miles in) it becomes slow going due to the rocky terrain. Nothing difficult, just slow driving. The first time we did that trip we camped at the confluence of Marble and Cottonwood Canyons which was a nice spot except for the fact that we had to walk several miles from our camp site to the end of the road where the actual Marble Canyon hiking trail begins, and where you can see the things that AWG put in his post. If you drive that stretch, rather than walking it, you will be able to spend more time in the picturesque part of the Canyon. Any way that you choose to do it, you will have a great time . . . . enjoy!

Just want to add have good trip. Let us know what you think of Red Rock, I have not been there.
