rear door threshold

At the rear door there is a sheet aluminum threshold. After many years of opening and closing the aluminum begins to wear and you end up with tiny slots in the aluminum where nails, screws and rivets constantly rub

Here's a solution which will last for the remainder of the campers life....probably ours as well.

This is the install of a modified Commercial Pemko threshold, mill finish. The threshold was cut around the edges of the door and compresses the edge of the new carpet, holding it down at the door. It's unfortunately sealed with what I had at the time...red RTV silicone....a better choice would be polyurethane caulk in your color of choice.

The rear edge of the pemko was cut to width and chamfered for 1/2". This photo was taken 3 years after the installation

The threshold was through drilled and tapped into the steel connector on the bottom of the camper...it also provides a little more stiffening to bridge between the door posts.

The rise on the threshold section that provides the door stop is 3/8", it aligns with the door posts. The edges are now sealed with polyurethane caulk.
