Resources for Boondocking...

What are your favorite resources on how to outfit a camper for boondocking? Specifically, I'd like to know more about managing water, but really a broad, general guide covering all sorts of stuff even solar is what I'm seeking. Book, eBook or web page are all fine.

Also, what are your favorite resources for where to disperse camp in NorCal, Oregon and Washington?

One of the best resources for outfitting your camper is right here: build threads, threads about food, water, garbage, & toilet management. Ask questions.
I also used Expedition Portal. I got almost all the information and help I needed when I was starting out with these two sites.

For National Forests I rely on the Motor Vehicle Use Maps published for each forest district. They are accurate maps of roads and mark where it is legal to drive and camp.
Information on BLM land is harder to come by.
I've had to contact individual state agencies for info on state managed land.

Benchmark and Delorme Maps/Atlas are next best and I use those a lot for both planning and navigation.

I've gotten away from USGS topo maps when not backpacking.

It will take a couple trips to figure out what you really need/use, you need to review what you use and didn't use after each trip and adjust inventory. Break it down on a few spread sheets(cooking, safety, truck, camper, toys, etc) if you want. The're are a few extra things i carry, like a 10x12 tarp(in addition to the camper canopy), I don't use it often but it has saved the day during inclement weather more than a few times. Excellent info from JaSAn on maps. Each natl. forest has a district office, it's worth stopping in and buying or reviews the applicable maps for the area you are interested in. Plus they are always willing to help with local knowledge and up to date info, river heights and forest road closures. Guess I'm just old school, grew up using maps, continue to use them for most back road navigation. I use GPS for rural/city nav.
