Hi. I have my ATC mounted on a 2017 Silverado extended cab. Going certain directions my satellite radio loses reception. Anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this problem. The only reason I subscribe to satellite is for my long trips with the camper . Thanks. Glen.

Glen, I guess you have the longer cabover. On my previous camper with the long cabover I lost reception, but with my 4wc, and the 2 foot cabover, no problem. On my previous Dodge truck I was able to use a remote satellite antenna, but it was easy access to plug it in. Not so easy with the Chevy. If you can figure out the access for a remote antenna, let me know. I'll send you a free magnetic one.

You're not the first with this problrm here. Search for "site:www.wanderthewest.com satellite antenna" and see if one of the tthreads has a possible solution for you.
Good luck.

Thanks for the replies Guys. Ron, thanks for the offer, it doesn't look like I can access the Chevy antenna to easily. Might just looking into a portable unit and going with a magnetic antenna.

This is also a problem with Fords with a long cab over configuration like we have.

On another forum the consensus fix was to buy another OEM satellite antenna and mount it on the plastic cowling at the base of the windshield. You then snake the wire through the firewall and plug it into the wire going into the gps/radio unit by unplugging the original wire coming from the roof.

This has the effect of moving the antenna forward about 15 inches or so and has minimized the problem. Of course the further north you go the more this becomes an issue so in northern Canada and Alaska you will probably not be able to receive the signal.

If you need to I can take a picture of mine...
