Mark's Live Streaming Backyard Cam

I sometimes have this pointed at my birdfeeder...but I took the birdfeeder down, and figured I'd share the snowfall with the warm-clime folks. Maybe it just makes you glad you live in a warm climate.

Opened just fine with Nestcape. Light rain atm here.

Netscape ?? Holy crap Craig, Netscape stopped updating their browser over two years ago. Maybe it's time to get a new browser like Firefox or Chrome or IE 8......

Webcam opened fine with Firefox 3.6.12

It's not snowing anymore, though that's still the forecast for the day. It's now 34° at my house, so maybe it'll turn to rain...? (My personal weather station -- the white thing on the white pole -- is "Rimrock Village" on the Bend, OR, page of wunderground.com)

I'm glad the webcam shows in all browsers. Some may require a plugin to be loaded...that would be the only source of a glitch -- if your browser required the plugin and you didn't give it permission to install it.

31 and snowing again and again and again. Way too much snow for November, not to mention the minus temps, it's going to be a long winter.

I use three different browsers. Just happens that wtw still works on netscape. I figure the hackers stopped trying to hack it years ago. I hope so.

Just for shits and giggles, i first went online in the days before there were browsers. We used IRC and email was still done with unix. I remember the day i shouted "hey, i'm talking to someone in australia". It seemed so cutting edge at the time.

Sure wish you could send some of that our way. If we don't get some precip soon, it'll be an "interesting" fire season. Darned la niña.

Yeah, Mother Nature can be a bitch...but she's the only one we've got.

Hey Mark, I believe I just saw a chickadee at your bird feeder. Thanks for the link. It started snowing here before dawn on Saturday the 20th. Power was out by 6 am Sat. and came back on here at 7:30 pm on Tuesday. We ran the snowblowers Sat, Wed., Thurs., Fri., Sat., and again this morning. We got about 30 inches the first storm series and another 10 inches to a foot this weekend. It warmed to 35 today! La Nina is here.

Man-Oh-man, that's a long time to be without power, ski3pin!...Sounds like you're on the same circuit as Lighthawk, or something close. Where abouts, what county, are you?

Yes, mountain chickadees are (by my informal estimate) the 3rd most common bird at my feeder, after #2 pygmy nuthatch and #1 house finch. After a prolonged spell of the feeder being empty or removed (I've had it down for over a month and just replaced it today), the pygmy nuthatches seem to find the feeder first. Then, other birds notice the nuthatch action and start getting in on it.

Hi Mark, nice cam. Here In Ontario Canada we have had snow for about a week but only a couple of inches. Day time Temps 34F, night time 18F. I think Bend is on the same Latitude as where I live in ( Guelph ) In Ontario.N 43 42 W-080 24.
Cheers,
Kevin.

Hey Kevin, thanks. :)
Yeah, I have fun with the webcam (which is actually a Sony camcorder). I usually have it zoomed in on my birdfeeder because that's where there's the most-likely action going on. This past weekend I had it zoomed out to show the new snow...and deer are frequently viewable in my yard, too. There aren't any fences between the houses in my subdivision, and the vegetation/landscaping is mostly "civilized natural" (safe and palatable for deer), and the Deschutes River is just 100 yards from my house, and nobody lets their dogs run loose, so it's pretty good deer habitat. This weekend I watched a 4-point buck (that is, 4 on each side) try to make a date with a doe in my yard, but she turned him down...maybe he wasn't her type...or maybe she just had a headache.

You know, we always think of Canada as being way up north -- well...I do, anyway. But you, Kevin, are actually a little further south than I am (about ½°), and Oregon isn't even on the northern tier of states. I guess I forget that there's that peninsula of Ontario, Canada that extends down between Lakes Huron, Erie and Ontario.

Happy trails, Mark.
