I am going to be in the Southern Utah area for 10 days in mid May and would like some help i finding places to see and camp. Valley of the gods and Moki sound like good excursions from what folks on the forum are saying. Any other good spots away from the crowds? I have 4 wheel and good clearance in my 05 tacoma with Fleet camper. Any ideas will be helpful. Thanks

I'm partial to...

  • Capitol Reef NP
  • the Burr Trail out of Boulder
  • the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands NP
  • Eye of the Whale trail in Arches NP
  • Kodachrome Basin State Park
  • Monument Valley
  • Coral Pink Dunes
  • Horseshoe Canyon in Canyonlands NP
  • Natural Bridges National Monument
  • Hovenweep Nat'l Monument
  • Comb Ridge near Bluff
  • Warner Lake on the La Sal Loop Rd out of Moab

Pretty much all of it...
.

Thanks for the ideas. Trip is shaping up and looking forward to being out there. Much to see in 14 days. Will report back hopefully with pictures.

Also try the San Rafael Swell. I-70 goes right through it. There are lots of dirt roads back in there.

Have a great trip!

Here's the BLM map of San Rafael Swell:

Thanks for all the ideas. It appears in two weeks there is far more to see than is possible. When we get there I imagine it will be going slow and soaking it up. Away from the crowds.
