1995 Sun-Lite SkyHawk Camper - $2,800

We purchased this camper in October 2011 to see if:

 1. A pop-up camper would help us extend our camping season into colder weather months?

 2. We liked pop-up truck campers without having to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a new Four Wheel Camper or All Terrain Camper?.
Eight years later, the answer to both questions is yes. However, it is time for our camper to find a new home with someone that will use it more than we have over the last year. The camper has:

 • Full size mattress

 • Couch that pulls out into a single bed

 • Dometic refrigerator that runs on propane, shore power, or battery with manual

 • 3 burner propane stove

 • 1 sink with hand-pump faucet

 • 15 gallon water tank

 • 1 Suburban forced air furnace with manual

 • 1 new RV battery (10/19)

 • All internal LED lights

 • 3 Rieco-Titan jacks

 • 3 drawers and 5 cabinets for storage

 • 2 Torklift Fast Gun turnbuckles

 • 2 standard turnbuckles

 • Shore power cord

 • Power cord to connect to truck (charges RV battery while driving)

 • 1 5 gallon propane tank, about 8 years old

We carry this camper on a 2000 Toyota Tundra with Helwig Helper Springs and BF Goodrich KO2 Load Range E tires (truck is not for sale). The Sun-Lite Skyhawk was designed for mid-size trucks like Toyota Tacomas (and the Tacoma’s predecessor) and Ford Rangers. However, with a 2 ¾ lift on the camper floor, it fits the Tundra perfectly. The turnbuckles are inside the truck bed and attached to eyebolts in the truck floor similar to how Four Wheel Campers are tied down. It can also be attached with turnbuckles located external to the truck bed like many larger truck campers. We used steel blocks on the jack braces on the camper to extend the width of the jacks to accommodate the wider Tundra when loading.

We used this camper mostly in Oregon and Washington and have travelled as far as Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and British Columbia with it. We have many fond memories of using this camper and would like to pass it onto someone else that can make more use of it than we have been able to in the last year.

The link below provides many pictures of the camper including:

 • A picture from the previous owner that depicts the dimensions of the camper. This can help interested parties verify if the camper will fit their truck.

 • Pictures of the turnbuckles holding the camper to the inside of the truck bed.

 • Pictures of the camper from 2011 to 2019 in chronological order.

 • Pictures of items that come with the camper such as camper jacks, 2 sets of jack extensions to accommodate wider trucks, leveling blocks, and wheel chocks.

Camper is located in Portland, Oregon and is currently on the truck. It takes us about 15-20 minutes to unload and about 15-20 minutes to load.

For more information or to arrange to see the camper, please email sunlitepdx@gmail.com.

I know, you are not selling the truck. But, if you want to entertain it, let me know. I am in Bend and looking for a camper/truck package. Unfortunately, I cannot buy the camper as I have no truck yet. If you are remotely interested, shoot me a message and price for both. If I somehow get a truck before you sell it, I'll reach out to you.

I enjoyed identifying the location in many of your photos.

Thanks,

Thanks for the offer but we would have to get way more than Blue Book value for the truck to consider selling it. We have been very happy with it and I am not sure we could find something we like as much for the money. If you do get a truck and want to look at the camper sometime, let me know. Good luck with your search.

That is a great way to post a camper, would be very helpful if more people followed your example.

Thanks. I wish I could take credit. The person we bought it from 8 years ago did the measurements on the picture and we kept the photo because we thought it would be useful at some point.

Hear, hear! Most of the manufacturers don't even have an image like this. It's very frustrating!

While browsing the photos in SunLite1995's original post, I noticed the numbers plate says it's a Skyhawk DX.

I believe this one on the web is a Skyhawk SB (short bed). If you look at the specs and compare to SunLite1995's Skyhawk dimensions photo, the SB one is shorter, both in overall length and floor length.

The SunLite is sold. I tried to set the title to sold but could not see where to do that. Thanks for having this forum.

I did it for you. Use the full editor and you should see a “Topic Moderation” choice above the first post. You can edit any title that you have created.
