Why the tarp?

The ground holds a lot of moisture that will adversely affect your camper over time, assuming it is kept relatively close to the ground, which would be advisable. The tarp will create a vapor barrier and reduce the amount of moisture present. Also less hospitable to bugs and critters hanging out under there. The tarp will kill the grass though. But so will the camper if left there a long time. Just my two cents worth. YMMV.

edit: I should add that it would be best to find seasonal indoor storage- someone's unused garage or an RV storage place. Not that expensive in the overall scheme of things.
