Introducing the Fundra:
The Fundra upgrades:
About a year ago, I had to get rid of my fully built 07 FJ https://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/the-map-is-not-the-territory-a-northern-maine-adventure.67758/ due to frame rust and a host of other issues. I still miss the FJ, but decided to get a "more family friendly truck I wouldn't modify". I found a 2018 Tundra Crew Max Limited with the off road package, and that would be "enough". I lasted about a year before venturing out in the snow and finding the limits of a stock Tundra. When out alone, I like the peace of mind that comes with a winch. Why not get some sliders too and maybe a small lift, but keep the tires stock for mileage. I started making plans and buying parts. Chrome was the first to go, I always hated the look.
I had been dreaming of a four wheel camper for a long time, one day I dragged my wife into Mule Expedition Outfitters in Issaquah WA, and they happened to have the perfect model on the floor. She fell in love with it immediately, and a few days later we put a deposit down.
The stock tires lasted until the second trip, where we got a flat on the worst part of Hart's Pass:
5 Tire plugs later (glad I bought that ARB plug kit) I was able to get off the pass and change the tire.
