Unless things go completely sideways again we will finally be doing our Alaska trip this summer. We also plan on driving the Dempster. I know some of you Guys have driven it and was wondering how much time you think we should allow for it. Thanks.

Hard to say without knowing what you like to do. We did it in 2019, and if i were to go back i would take 5-7 days. I would want to travel slower, and spend more time exploring the area. Because of weather, and the fact that a week earlier we had driven to TUK, we pushed a fair bit. Overall, i think we treated it as something to get done and over, in hind sight, i would take much more time.

We drove the Dempster to Inuvik in 2010 before the summer road to TUK was built, and again in 2019 when you could go all the way to TUK. I agree with Wango, five to seven days will allow you to explore a bit more. We missed hiking in Tombstone National Park, visiting the town of Tsiigehtchic, and several other attractions because we were moving too fast. Take your time, there's lots to see.

Thanks Guys. We were thinking 5-6 days also. We will be leaving home mid July to meet our Daughter and Son in law at the Anchorage airport on July 29th. They are renting a camper van for 2 weeks to travel around with us . When they fly home we will continue on up to Tuk before making our way home.
