Tire Recommendations

I have been thinking similar strategy, but if I get to a camp and it rains overnight resulting in serious mud I guess I would just wait until things dry. That means I have to be prepared with sufficient time and supplies.

Is this what you would do or would you give the mud a try and risk getting stuck?

when there is too much mud I don't go there and on and on it goes

I wait. Unless I can't. I carry tire chains that will work in an emergency (and probably better than mud tires).

Does anyone have any experience with Hankook Dynapro AT-mRF10 tires? Tread very similar to Cooper AT3.

This has happened to me twice during a spring hunt .... I was able to get out but it was stressfull. I have a winch and some other recovery equipment - the problem is you cannot always wait sometimes it will get worse with more Rain.

More food for thought ... just because you have mud tires does not mean that you will be unstoppable in mud.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to give advice. I ended up going with Cooper Discoverer AT3, LT265/70R17 121/118S. I was going to wait 'til April (supposedly tire sale month) but Sears gave me a deal I couldn't turn down. $604 for 4 tires, mounted and balanced. That was ~ $150 less than anywhere else. Happy camper so far (I have a whopping 60 miles on them).

60 miles? Nearly worn out!!!! I've only got about 3 miles on my Coopers .

Howdy all

Of course tire choice depends on individual needs but I would certainly like to echo the comment that Goodyear AT KO2's are a pretty quiet ROAD tire for the hundreds of mile we have to manage to get where our trip begins.....

PS And COSTCO sells them which includes a good price but also a map for road hazzard repairs, air up, re-balance etc.

Correct. The All Terrain KO is a BF GoodRICH tire, not Goodyear.
