Is there any way to use a Hi-Lift jack on a 2004 Toyota Tacoma? No way to use it on the front or rear bumpers. Is there any other place to jack up the truck and recover it ...say in deep sand or mud?
Mud can be a real problem with a jack unless you have some sort of wide platform for the jack base. Otherwise you can end up driving the jack into the mud rather than lifting the truck out of it.
Jim, the Lift Mate works well if the claws fit your wheels (and you keep the jack shaft away from your sheet metal); however, I think it would be pretty wasteful to carry an entire Hi-Lift jack for only that function. You can't even change a tire that way. You'd be better off with a bottle jack and the Safe Jack system Taku linked to. Either that, or go ahead and install recovery-capable front and rear bumpers.
Me, I have a handyman with all the accessories, , a come along, a heavy duty bottle jack and the stock ford bottle jack-never know what you may need for any given situation ;and just hope you are never in a situation you need 'em all !
