I want to thank all who are helping members by adding posts here on campers for sale and to apologize if I also post an ad that has been previously posted by another member..........
I have a way of zooming through my search and keeping track of ads I've already looked at.

So thanks all and keep up the efforts. :)

It depends.

On your state - Some require registration based on its classification.
On your financing - Paid cash, maybe not. Got a loan, more likely. Can a lien be put on it if no title?
Sometimes on which DMV person you get. - How they apply the rules.

In Oregon, normally yes but pop-ups fall in a gray area due to length, height, whether they have a permanently mounted stove, whether they are bolted to truck or use turnbuckles. Hence, a dependency on which DMV clerk you get and their understanding of the rules. If bolted down, it may become a motor home rather than a temporary camper.

I am not a lawyer. I heard these issues come up when I got my camper.

Having researched buying a used camper from different states in the NW I would agree with PaulT.

I learned I did have to register and license my pop up in WA. Check with your states department of motor vehicles for the answer. WA's web site isn't very helpful, so I had to call and talk to people to finally get the right answer.

Good luck.

Paul,

I agree with much of what you say. Registration is totally a debatable area in Oregon with these campers. My last one I didn't register and had zero issues with it.

However, the title is a separate issue. Every camper that FWC manufactures gets a title from the factory. I know as I received one when I bought my last camper from them.

I don't care about the registration paperwork, but I do care if I get a title to the camper...

Do you get a title from FWC or a manufacturer's certificate of origin (MCO)? My understanding is that you get a MCO in which you can use to apply/purchase a title if your state requires it. In Va, we do not have titles for truck campers, so I only want an MCO.

Thank you everyone for your posts! This page is an excellent resource... I am in the market for a slide in camper that will fit a short bed tacoma (5ft bed) so it is very difficult to search for such a rare find, especially when you are on a budget.
Hello Dave, I am looking for the same thing. Any luck there?

Jeff
