VHB Tape

I'm in the process of installing a new flexible solar panel to my camper. I'm planning on attaching it to 3 1x1 aluminum cross bars with VHB tape and screws in the corners. The backside of the panel is aluminum. I didn't know how many types of VHB tape there are out there so now I'm now trying to figure out which one to use. Home Depot has 3M 414DC on the shelf but there are also 3M 5952 and 4950 available on line at a higher cost. I'm turning to the WTW expert pool for any advice.

There are dozens of 3M VHB (very high bond) tapes in both the industrial and automotive divisions. I doubt that the good ones are available at your local hardware store. I use a lot of 4229 that I pay over $1000 for a 24" x 60yd roll. May be available at an auto body and paint store for body moldings.

McMaster is a great source for VHB tape (and just about anything else mechanical), lots of varieties in various size rolls:
