Anyone have experience with the vmax charge tank battery? http://www.bargainshore.com/servlet/the-222/agm-marine-battery-boat/Detail
It seems like a pretty good price for an AGM deep cycle, but I haven't found any informative reviews yet.
Has anyone found a different battery with similar specs-110 amp hours, AGM-for a similar price?

Thanks.

Never heard of that one. My general suggestion is look up battery distributors in your area and go see what they have locally and also see if they have anything on clearance/close outs.

Talking mainstream suppliers, lots of folks run the sears diehard platinum battery. Which is $280 for the size 31 which compares to what you are looking at.

Have a cabelas near by? According to online their store brand AGM battery size 30 (which again is comparable to what you are looking at) is onsale for $192. Also looks like you might be able to couple that with a $20 off a $150+ order coupon through Jan 5 (not sure if sale items are excluded or not). I'm not super familiar with what brand this battery actual is (ie who cabelas is rebranding) but it's food for thought: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Boating/AutoBoat-Batteries-Chargers/Marine-Deep-Cycle-Batteries|/pc/104794380/c/104698080/sc/104446080/Cabelas-Advanced-Angler-AGM-Batteries/727395.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse.cmd%3FN%3D1100564%26WTz_l%3DSBC%253BBRprd727455&WTz_l=SBC%3BBRprd727455%3Bcat104446080

Thanks Pods8!
I just ordered Cabelas' group 30 battery that you linked to. They even took $20 off with the coupon you referred to-something I probably would have missed without you mentioning it. It is a 123 amp hour battery.
Thanks again.

Let us know how it works. Also when you get it see what markings it has on the case to see if we can determine who really makes it. :)

I picked up the battery at Cabelas yesterday. I got the group 30 battery, which has been rebranded by Cabelas. I was amused when I saw the box, because I recognized the manufacturer and part number immediately. It is actually made by UPG, and it is the UB121100. I had previously ordered this same battery from two different companies, both of whom claimed to have it in stock only to tell me the battery would not be available for months. A representative from another company told me the battery retailers were having problems with the supplier for this particular battery, so I gave up on trying to find it anytime soon. Then, thanks to Pods8, I found it for a fraction of the price I had attempted to pay earlier. Hopefully it performs well and lasts a long time. I know you usually get what you pay for...At the same time, this battery does retail for $350 or more at several stores, and it is highly recommended by wholesale solar, so we will see. No more cold nights with no furnace!
