We have only used the water pump a few times in the two years we have had the camper. When we tried turning it on this spring it didnt work. We did find a leak and replaced the hose. The pump runs but there is no water. The filter doesnt even fill up. HELP

Hi, boushea,

Sounds like it lost prime. Sometimes you need to work it a bit to get it to flow water. Don't continue to run it dry - you could burn out the seal/motor.

When I drain our fresh water tank and lines it takes some starting and stopping of the pump to get the pump primed after I refill the tank. I also open the cold water faucet in the sink to help purge out the air in the line and get the pump to build up head pressure.

I suggest trying that.

You might start by hooking up to the city water inlet through a pressure regulator to fill the lines & the water heater. Do this with the faucets open & the outside gray water cap removed. If you have a water heater, it takes quite a while for the pump to fill the water heater. That may be where the water is being pumped so far. Be sure to close the water heater drain valve or you are pumping the water in a circle back to the tank.
Once you have water flowing from both faucets, disconnect the city water hose & use the water in the fresh water tank & the water pump for further tests.
Download the owner’s manual for your camper model to locate heater the drain valve if you didn’t get one with the camper.

Good luck.

As you can see I am new to this site. To the five people that responded, you are my new heros! It took taking the pump apart and a valve? was stuck. It is now moving freely and we have water. I learned so much about the pump because you guys all cared enough to help out. Thank you

This just happened to me. Mechanically, no issues with the pump. But I had to prime, and used the method by putting water in the little filter cup as shown in this vid.
