Lady Bug
I posted a thread about my rough travel plans here but wanted to start a new one for a specific question:
I've not traveled in the central northernmost U.S. and wonder what kind of bugs (and other critters) I am likely to encounter.
Should I expect hordes of mosquitoes? Deer flies? Chiggers? Swarms of ? Marauding somethings?
In southern Illinois right now this is a crazy high year for ticks (yuck!) and when I tried campering in Missouri, my truck was swarmed by mean, bitey horse flies (it was rather like a scene from Hitchcock's
"The Birds"!)
Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Eastern Washington....
Devils Tower, Yellowstone, Glacier NP, Sawtooth NF....
What critters and bugs to prepare for? Do I need to invest in a gallon of Deet, or just a little spray bottle for one especially bad location? I know about bears(!), anything else specific to those areas to be aware of?
Thanks!
