We are picking up our Hawk at FWC factory in Woodland. Looking for a place to stay in the area so we can check all the systems prior to heading home to Del Mar. Thanks Den

I would give them a call. I'm sure they must have a list of campgrounds in the area that may be open or if needed, reservations.

Congrats by the way!!! New Hawk!!! Lucky Dog!!!!

I will give Stan a call. Thanks we are really looking forward to the hawk.

I looked, all of the spots that popped into my head were some distance from Woodland. There's a string of lakes and reservoirs up the west side of the valley. I know that there is camping at the furthest away, Black Butte Res. Have not been to any of those closer to Woodland. There is also the World's Smallest Mtn range, the Sutter Buttes semi-nearby, not too sure about camping there though. Then there's always the Colusa Casino....

BTW, there's a Farm Implement Museum in Woodland that I've been wanting to check out for several years. And Thunderhill Racetrack (road racing) is just west of Willows.

I stayed at a county campground not too far off. It wasn't the finest but did the job, right on a river/water. I'll have to look some more.

Thanks for the info. we are going up Feb 13 so we have a couple of weeks. Everyone sure is great on this site!!!!!!

If you need a hotel room the night before your appointment, I suggest the Valley Oaks Inn, around the corner from FWC. Very nice, clean & quiet. Don't make the mistake I made and get stuck at the Motel 6, in the Woodland ghetto... *shudder*

;)

If you do want to camp I would strongly recommend this campground. It's along Putah creek...probably not more than 40 minutes from FWC. It's quiet, beautiful, and right along a Putah Creek, which is an outlet from Lake Berryessa. Great camping...both primitive and with a full hook-up option at Canyon Creek Resort, although you may need reservations for this location.

Good luck and have fun.

We picked up the camper on Feb 14. It was ready and they had it on in about an hour and a half. Everybody was great!
We were the first camper to have the gas struts factory installed on the outside. The guys were very excited to see how they worked out. The 40# struts are almost over kill with nothing on top. They will be super with kayak and surf boards on top. We did stay at Putah creek as suggested. There was not a person there. Even the hosts. Camped right by the water. Tons of geese and other animals. The weather being bad, was, good for us. we got to check all system under natural stress. Wind, rain etc. All systems and appliances were right on. We drove to Morro Bay for a night and got to check out how the camper feels in big wind. I was amazed at the stability. What a great rig!! The 20006 tundra handles the camper just great. I have Firestone air bags. I have had heavy spring kits in the past and found them of little help. I already have spare bolt for the air bags. We still have to figure a few thing out. Where to put gun rack, fishing pole rack etc. We could not be happier with the Hawk, Stan and all the crew at FWC!!! Thanks to all of you!!! on this site for your help and suggestion. Hope to see you in the wilds.
