Just a FYI - to all those headed up to The Mt Jefferson Wilderness area for the eclipse keep an eye on the Whitewater Fire. I had plans to backpack the PCT south of McKenzie Pass after the eclipse but the trail is closed for 11 miles going northbound and the smoke is widespread. This fire has the potential to get a lot worse with the heat wave Oregon is experiencing.
