Why doesn't the trim have a ....

Anyone know why the horizontal trim pieces on the exterior of a 2001 FWC dont have a bead of sealant to prevent water from getting behind them?

I can understand not sealing the bottom so as not to trap water, but not the top.

The reason I ask is that I took out some trim screws from under the entry door and they were rusted. And this camper has spent 99.9 percent of its life in a garage. Now that I own it it will spend 100 percent of its life on my truck outside.

Was this an oversight on this unit or is (no sealant) by design.

Thanks.

Mike

From about 1996 - 2001 Four Wheel Campers was under a different ownership.

The newer models we are building these days are sealed up quite a bit different than the old days.

These days and with the new ownership of FWC starting in 2002, we are using better techniques, different sealants, new one piece no screw roof, etc.

I don't know what the other guys are still doing with regards to sealing the camper trim, but we are slowing making positive changes for the future !

Thanks Stan...I will just purchase a high quality sealant and get to work.
