Wow! Look at all of the green stuff. Here in NV the green is giving way to the brown as summer approaches. Love the shot of the sunset.

Thanks for sharing.

Part 3 should be completed by tomorrow. Please enjoy Picture Rock National Lakeshore. This was such a beautiful area, and so much more to see. jd

Nice John!

Looking forward to more of the UP.

Foy, we didn't get a chance to drive up through the Huron Mountains or go up to Copper Point. I found an article or you pointed it out about the old railroad cut thru the area. The line never was used, but there are parts that are still accessible. Might be an interesting thing to see next time. jd

We had a great time at Pictured Rocks last fall on our Lake Superior trip- beautiful area. Ran into some of the same issues of dog care. Didn't stop at Lake Superior Brewing but had a great pasty from Muldoon's in Munising. Enjoying your report.

Correct, the Iron Range & Huron Bay Railroad was a bust from the get-go. Poor design (including some 5% grade) and spectacularly bad timing (Lake Michigamme area iron mines beginning to play out, the Panic of 1893, and new mines discovered and developing in the Ishpeming area being closer and mostly downhill to Lake Superior at Marquette) doomed it from time it was completed until one of the founders fled to Mexico.

Very nice ride, however! Next time!

Enjoyed seeing Pictured Rocks. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice, John! Beautiful country, lots of history, celebrating 41 years of marriage, good food, fun camping, and a fly rod in hand! What a great trip. We hope you two have many many more!
