We went yellow post camping this weekend to try out all of the mods I did to the Eagle.
Almost froze our butts off!
It was great to find such a nice place only a hour and a half from my house.
I have more pics if anyone wants to see them.

Let's see, an hour and a half from Upland and yellow post. You got me stumped on the yellow post. More pics! How did the Eagle work out? Oh, four of my brothers graduated from Upland High.

Here is a hint: this is looking at Mt. San Jacinto.
We saw an older FWC, maybe an early Eagle on a Ranger.

Nice picture. How do the roof lifters work mounted on the sides vs each end? Early in the thread about roof lifters there was talk about the type of mount you have but no one had tried it that way.

Roof struts in general are a must. I got a little carried away with the solar panel and I want to add a small evap cooler in lieu of the roof vent.
I also had a heart attack in February and was told not to lift anything heavy
When I started doing the math and viewing other installations, I noticed that the struts appeared to be ever so slightly preventing the roof from full lift. I later found struts on Mcmaster Carr that were the perfect length and you can purchase any pound strut you need.
I made my own mounts, but they sell them too.
That said, due to the way the roof structure is run front to rear, if I did it again i would install them front and rear.
I installed my solar panel on aluminum angle that runs almost full width of the top to move the load to the sides.
I was also leery of some of the structural problems with the framing above the door opening so I didn't want to add any holes at that location.

All in all, very happy with all of my work. But I am a habitual tinkerer. The fold over bed is not working for me.
I have already started plans for a dinette conversion.

We were just N/E of Idyllwild.

I have a dinette in my bobcat and really like it. I can see where the fold over bed/couch can be a problem. I just don't like the sitting arrangement with the fold over, and there is more room to move around with the dinette. Some think that there is less storage but I find that not to bother me. I mounted my lifters front and rear and have no trouble with them. I think the problem of the roof not raising to the full height is due to how the shocks are mounted. My roof lifts to its full height and i think the shocks have a little more travel if needed. I also carry a leverage type lifter that Less has a thread about, works great. The roof can get heavy and the front is harder to life due to the reach over the bed.

Ah, I see. Yellow posts mark appropriate dispersed camp sites. Probably a good idea as our populations continue to grow.
