where's the converter?

I'd like to put a smart charger in my 2014 Grandby.

Where is the AC/DC converter/battery charger located? Somewhere between the AC receptacle on the outside wall and the fuse box, I suppose?

How can I access the converter? Maybe it will have a smart charger already built in.

Mine is behind a metal vent in the cabinet row to cool the converter. I have a large vent for the furnace and a small vent for cooling the converter below the power outlets.

There is only one vent on the cabinet panels in my Grandby. It is a plastic vent just below the furnace. I suppose that's a good place to start looking.

You don't state where your batteries are located but open that cabinet and you will find wires connecting the batteries to your Iota DLS-30 power supply. My 2014 Hawk has the front dinette and the battery compartment is located on the floor on the driver's side at the rear of the camper. The power supply/converter is located on the shelf above the batteries over the wheel well. The following is a photo of mine. The DLS-30 is the aluminum box with the fan grill on the end and the IQ4 is indicated.The IQ4 turns the power supply into a smart charger.

My batteries are in the front corner passenger side. I only see the battery separator at that location. I suspect the converter is in on the other side of the camper inside the cabinet somewhere between the outside AC receptacle and the inside fuse box.

The owner's manuals I got from FWC do not identify which model IOTA DLS converter is installed in my camper. Converter does not appear on the parts list. I sent an inquiry to FWC re: IOTA DLS model & location in camper. Hopefully they will know.

I wasn't sure if my '04 hawk had one for a while, couldn't find it and it wasn't working. I removed the alarms from the driver's side panel, there it was. Turned out to have a blown fuse, pretty tough to fish the converter out of its hole.

Yup, thats where mine is. Good to know I can get it out if I have to.

Update: I got some good news from Brenda at FWC. She tells me that my Grandby has the IOTA DLS 30 with internal IQ4 smart charger. Now I won't have to fish it out and add the IQ4. I still don't know where the converter is located in the camper. Add another to my "options I'd like to see" list - cutaway drawings & detailed diagrams of each individual build. That should be easy to do with a computer.

Way cool! Since I got mine in December of 2013, I am hoping that I have it as well. I bet my owners package will have that info.

I did not find that info in the owner's package I got from FWC. The converter was not listed on the parts list, although the battery separator was. The IOTA owner's manual was for all models and did not specify which model I had.

The IQ4 smart charger is now standard with all 2015 FWCs.

Update: The converter in my 2014 Grandby (rollover couch configuration) is behind the plastic vent below the furnace on the cabinet. Good to know just in case. The vent is large so it should be easy to access.
