RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Central Oregon birds, bugs & flowers and experimenting with infrared

Thanks Sagefemme. I made the correction. That is very helpful. I know rocks and geology and am learning plants but am often wrong about birds.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Have I lost my mind?

In 4 plus years of sun, rain, rain and wind, freezing - we always keep both vents open, partly open at least, anyway. It is part of the set-up ritual. Unless it is actively raining with wind coming in from the headward side, we peel back at least a corner of the transparent vinyl over the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Central Oregon birds, bugs & flowers and experimenting with infrared

Why yes we did. Not much going on there but collapsing walls. I asked my better haIf if she wanted to stop & look. Nope, one set of crumbling old walls looks alot like any other. I was surprised about how much water was in the creek. We were both impressed with how fat all the cattle were.

The drive out to Willow Creek hot spring in the southern Alvord was worth the many miles of dirt. Really fascinating country.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Central Oregon birds, bugs & flowers and experimenting with infrared

Thanks! There were flowers everywhere we went it seems. The walk downstream of Riddle Ranch to the confluence was like a steam bath with flowering shrubs and a gazillion insects of all kinds. Big fun!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Central Oregon birds, bugs & flowers and experimenting with infrared

We took a relatively short trip to the Steens, the Alvord Playa and the Ochoco mountains. There were birds, butterflies, flowers, magnificent mountains, broad vistas and mosquitos. Lots of clouds making it perfect to try out my infrared converted Nikon D810 camera. Big fun all around. If you...

I agree with Taku -- we love our 2019 Tundra and plan to drive it until either we or it goes bust!

C'est bien! Good friends and a smart purchase. Ahh, Lakeview. I barely know ye. And Goose Lake is not much of a lake, but I hope you can rest easy and well.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Have I lost my mind?

The vent mechanism can be accessed from inside. Likely just something misaligned and can be popped back into alignment. Far more embarrassing will be the first time you forget the latches and your pop-up pops up while driving. Not to worry, it happens to most of us. Does not hurt anything. I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Have I lost my mind?

Congratulations on the next phase of enjoying the out of doors! We are just north in Portland and have had our Tundra/Hawk since January 2020. Also birders and I do landscape photography. Gave up on 40 years of tent camping after spending 8 out of 10 days in a gloomy tent under pouring rain at...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Will a Snake Cross a Rope?

My snake story was funny to me and some of my survey crew buddies. One of our team found a baby rattler and knowing the opinionated pompous arrogant new guy was afraid of snakes, we put the snake in the lap drawer of his desk at work before he showed up in the morning. That was as close to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West East of the Washington Cascades

Nick Zentner's youtube videos are a good recommendation. All your suggestions are interesting. I had cause to tour the underground workings of the gold mine near Wenatchee in the 1990's when it was just about to start closing down. Very weird to zoom around the deep tunnels in those flattish...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck and Camper Dropped Off Lift

I always go to the local Toyota dealer for service. They never flinch or even comment on the camper except to ask if I love the Tundra/Hawk combo. I have given a couple of mini tours of the camper to service folks.
