RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New to us 2006 FWC

My 2006 FWC has a battery separator on the drivers side of the water tank near the pump as shown in Stan's post. I think was standard that year if you ordered the battery option.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Engine braking?

From reading the Pacbrake literature it looks like the 12V Cummins engines need the upgraded exhaust valve springs while the 24V don't. I've never had any problems with the exhaust brake on my stock 24V Cummins.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replacing 3-way Fridge in Hawk with compressor fridge?

TF130 DC. If your camper has an AC to DC converter you don't need to spent the extra $100 for the AC/DC model.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replacing 3-way Fridge in Hawk with compressor fridge?

I have a 130L front opening Truckfridge that I've been happy with. Same as the Isotherm but cheaper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Engine braking?

Having a diesel w/exhaust brake and manual trans I engine brake all the time. When driving my Jeep on loose steep trails I find engine braking much more stable than having a wheel lock up with normal braking. In all cases both systems must be used in conjunction wisely.

I once read a book titled "How To **** In The Woods" which covered all this in detail. My favorite part was the description of the Groover used by river rafters.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ultimate Flexible Solar Panels - successes and warranty replacements

I've been looking at SunPower and may go that way if I decide to stay with flexible panels. If I do stay with flexible panels I need to figure out some sort of attachment structure as I don't want to bond them directly to the roof. I may be able to bond them to the dead Lensun panels. My other...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ultimate Flexible Solar Panels - successes and warranty replacements

I'm rereading this thread because my Lensun 100w aluminum substrate panels have failed. I was in the Owens Valley Memorial Day weekend with plenty of direct sunlight and my 300w of solar couldn't keep up with the 12v fridge. I have 2 100w Lensun semi flex panels and a 100w rigid Renogy panel...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Scenic and Morbid?

We did just that and left it there. My friend thought about taking it home but that was just creepy plus there was the possibility of Federale checkpoints and border crossing inspection.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Memorial Day Weekend

I'm off to have some fun. I've been doing a family/friends Owens Valley camping trip for over 40 years and don't plan to stop now. Our designated camp spot is remote enough to not have any other campers.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2017 - about ready to throw the heater in the garbage.

That could be a good solution but I would be concerned about "fooling" the sail switch into thinking there is sufficient air flow to exhaust the combustion gases and keep the combustion box from failing.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Do you love your kitchen sink faucet?

I used a standard Kohler single handle / single hole kitchen faucet and installed a soap dispenser in the second hole. These faucets are available in different reaches so now the outlet is centered in the sink. The original FWC faucet outlet was too close to the back edge of the sink resulting...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Need Better Angle for Tie Downs

Have you thought of using 2 tie down mounting points at the front of the camper. One to the jack bracket to control vertical motion and one to the floor pack to control horizontal motion. I would think most of the load would be vertical and the small horizontal component would not harm the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2015 Hawk Loose Screws

I have problems with those screws coming loose on my camper. They are going into the edge of the plywood floor pack and plywood doesn't do well holding screws in that direction. I took screws out and filled the holes with glue and toothpicks which seems to hold better.
