RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West San Diego Four Wheel Camper Rally

I have to ask, were there any pink flamingo sitings? No but Rich and Kim did see a mountain lion.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hot water heaters

Mine takes a while to light if it hasn't been used in awhile. I think it has to do with the distance between the heater and the propane tank.

I believe the black and red wires are for a solar panel.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Anyone had HOA issues with camper ON the truck?

I have a similar situation right now. Not with an HOA but the city of Goleta. They have just enacted a new parking ordinance that bans oversize vehicle parking and according to Ca state law my truck with the FWC is an oversize vehicle - too wide and too tall. I now have to sell my Jeep hauler to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof Lifting

I popped 2 disks in my neck the first week I owned the camper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New truck, gravel = mud flaps?

I've heard that having running boards is so traumatic that some people overcompensate by installing a flat bed.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery Question

To maximise storage space in the camper I moved the camper batteries under the truck and relocated the battery separator to the firewall. This has worked well for me.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West No accommodations for pop-ups in RV parks?

Figueroa Mtn, Davey Brown and Nira are good USFS campsites above Los Olivos. The Los Padres ranger station in Goleta will have maps.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West At first I thought it was a large moth...

I took a tour of the Oregon Caves last week and the ranger pointed out an interesting bat fact. Their forehands are normally in the clenched position and they have to exert effort to open them. This allows them to hang without exerting any effort.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Melanoma

I second the suggestion of a whole body check. I had a melanoma removed from the bottom of my foot a couple of years ago. Sun exposure is not always the cause.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fire or Cloud?

I talked to a friend in McCloud this morning and he said there's a fire at Hat Creek and Hwy 89 is closed. I'm heading up there in the morning so I hope they get it taken care of.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk Deadbolt Improvement

Never had an issue with mine. I like the idea of rekeying it. Am I the only one who only uses the deadbolt? Can't remember the last time I bothered locking the other lock. I couldn't find a locksmith in town who had key blanks for the door latch lock so I only use the deadbolt from the outside...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk Deadbolt Improvement

This is a little off subject but I'll toss it in anyway. A couple of mods I made to my deadbolt were to rekey it to match my house (one less key to carry) and I removed the interior knob to slow down a bad guy who breaks the window.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Possible water flow problem "FIXED"

My camper, an '06, has 2 check valves. One is at the inlet to the water heater which I assume keeps the hot water from backflowing as it heats and expands. The other is at the city water inlet which I think is your problem area. Both are in the cabinet.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Face Book

Geez, I am going to have to check TWO places now. :( (when hell freezes over) I am a retired IT guy (was in charge of 3000 PCs, in 125 cities, and 5 states), but I am refusing to facebook, tweet, or what else that stuff is called. And, I want a stupid phone with big buttons. Sorry to here...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dry Fall?

Roger, I've never done the Tucki Mine trail but I Googled it and it doesn't sound like you would have any problem. One report compared it to the Lemoigne Canyon trail. That trail is slow because it is rocky but it's not difficult. I've found that if the NPS lists a trail it's usually passible...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Where did you mount your Hi-Lift jack?

A massive increase in income would probably mess up my social security standing and put me in a new tax bracket. I would be willing to do it for the cost of materials and shipping though. PM me. Dick

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shower water pressure

Have you tried draining and cleaning your hot water tank? I had a similar problem with my sink faucet. It turned out to be the crap that comes off the heater cathode plugs things up. I now drain and flush the tank after every trip.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Where did you mount your Hi-Lift jack?

Here's a sketch and photos of the brackets I built. The clamps are 2-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 3/16 wall rectangular tubing that I split in half. The rest of the material is 1-1/2 x 1/4 flat stock. I welded the clamp to the bar at a 90* angle. I added another piece of flat stock to this joint because I...

 Carmelracer---- Who said you can't teach and old dog new tricks!!! I've been trying to do what you have done for the last six years! I always thought that the skin of the FWC was to thin to hold my handyman up and that it would pull out on the road some day and surprise any following...
