If you ever get into deep soft sand you'll want more width than a 235 profile tire for more floatation.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Garage floor paint on wood?

Check the label, does it say can be used on wood? If so be sure to use the recommended primer. I used Ace hardware exterior porch paint on the exterior of my Hawk, it's holding up well.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rear suspension mods needed for Hawk Shell on 3/4 ton truck?

You should be ok, if you don't carry an excessive amount of gear in the camper and the trailer tongue weight isn't heavy. Get E rated tires and good H.D. shocks to start with. Install the camper and all gear and drive it, get the rig weighed, then decide if any mods are needed.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Renogy 12 VDC 100 AH AGM?

I installed their 100ah battery almost 2 years ago. I don't draw it down much, never less than 50%, so it hasn't been abused. Stays on maintenance(float) between camp trips via solar. My fridge runs on propane, so it is used mainly to charge cell phones, camper lights, fantastic fan, fridge fan...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rollover couch organziation

I use the same support setup as jdavis but sometimes a good bump to the top while looking for something will allow the top to come down, so I added a lanyard and clip to fully secure when opening more than briefly.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fasteners for roof: self-piercing or self-drilling?

Any fine thread self tapping will work well. As mentioned, squirting a dab of sealant in the hole not only acts as a water seal but will lock the screw in so it's unlikely to back out.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Hawk door questions

Looks as if the door or door frame is distorted/warped and it will most likely leak in a good rain storm. My 2 cents; The extra weather stripping is only a band aid solution, I would inquire about replacing the complete assy. (Under warranty?)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rookie FWC Owner Looking for Insurance Tips

My insurance co. considers it a "load on the truck" and is therefore covered within the truck policy at no additional cost. Only catch, it is not covered when off the truck, which is only for maintenance. I printed the email they sent me with the above info for "insurance"

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rechargeable automotive Jump Starter question

Got a Rockford for Christmas years ago and it was a excellent product, would hold a charge for months and never failed me, whether jumping my lawn tractor or a small V8. Left it in my hot truck to many summer days and it swelled after 6 or so years. Stilled can't throw it away as it still has 2...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West who has made move from first gen Tundra to Tacoma?

I believe you are going to miss the power of that V8. I had a hawk on a first gen tundra with the 4.0l six cyl and I would term the power as adequate on the flats but wanting in the mountains. I know the Tacoma has a bit more power these days but it is not near what you would be giving up and a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Exterior Paint TLC

If you try to compound the finish with a power buffer/polisher, you'll find out quickly that the finish is very thin, you will most likely burn through. You could try hand polishing with a very fine compound, then wax.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Gas mileage

My F250 6.2 (4x4) gets a solid13mpg if I drive 60-65. If I up the rpms past 2k and drive 70+(interstate driving) it drops to 12. Note: I have a 3.73 gear, don't get a higher(numerical) gear than you really need, it will/can have a big impact on mpg. When you crunch the numbers its not as bad as...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Breaking Tire Lug Studs. (and other tire issues)

" the lug stud spins off", I'm guessing you mean the lugs broke off. RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wheel (rim) Size Question

Go with a 17 or 18" rim there should be plenty of tire selection for either size. to accomplish what you want, you'll need load range E with a heavy/stiff sidewall. Tire pressure will also have a big effect on how much "roll" you feel when driving. Side note: 17 or 18" tires are generally less...

What Jon R said. Check for a short to ground, especially any wire runs that can chafe against the truck/camper frame. Could be any where in the system.
