RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Have you weighed your FWC?

My Fleet Shell (2017) with battery and battery box, cushions, nothing else comes in around 760 lbs on a truck scale. FWC tag says 660 empty.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shell models - actual weight?

I have a 2017 Fleet Shell with the 72 amp battery, battery box, roof struts, cushions, two little cubby boxes. My tag says 660 lbs. On the scale coming home, I figured the camper with jacks and battery was 860. Subtract out the jacks, that comes down to 760. I doubt the battery is over...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk shell build out

Looks great. I just got a Fleet shell and working on similar mods, I made a bed for the little guy that converts to a table. I like your aluminum edging, I used melamine to match the camper, I chipped it already. I edged the table with maple laminate, came out well. Enjoy your new camper!!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Turnbuckle Question

I had mine installed at a dealer, they said the FWC recommends Loctite. Mine did not have Loctite and one came loose in the first week. If you are worried about blue being too hard to loosen try Loctite 222 (purple). It is meant to resist vibration. I have used in on bicycle wheels (spokes)...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finding Location of Frame in FWC

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Counter Top and Table

Bamboo was a no go, too heavy and saw destroyed the veneer. You win some and loose some. I did find a really expensive tool to find the framing. I wrote up a quick post on using a Flir thermal imaging camera. Luckily it was free for me to use, but they are rentable. I decided to make a box...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finding Location of Frame in FWC

I have to mount some tie down points on the interior and exterior of my Fleet. I tried removing the paneling with only limited success. The driver side was easy as I have a shell, but the window, and plastic framing to hold up the top made it a little too difficult. Nikonron suggested the ice...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fuel Cans

Thanks for posting the pics, I'm really struggling with the idea of drilling holes in my new Fleet, that looks like a nice solution. Any reason you went on the side and not the rear? Josh

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Counter Top and Table

Ice pick, huh? I was thinking some super expensive tool that I would have no other use for would be much better. (haha) I already have a few awls and picks. I found a bamboo table top that I plan on cutting down. I'll post when I'm done. Thanks for the info. Josh

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Counter Top and Table

Ron, What height did you set the cleat at. I pulled my wall, I have about 2" of aluminum at the top of the box, then wood/wires, then I think I may be too low. What is your measurement from the cleat to the top of the wall? When you ripped the FWC counter, what was inside? Solid ply or...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC add furnace?

I don't mind spring and fall cold, but in New England, we are talking teens to single digits at night. Last year we spent some time in the White mountains and woke up to 9 degree's f. I'll play around with the Buddy that I have and see if can find a safe place, I probably won't keep it on all...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Looking for a used slide-in camper for a 2017 long bed Tacoma

I had Timbrens for a while, they really did not cut it after a few days with all that weight, they just gets compressed. I put air bags on and they make a huge difference, and you can adjust the load easily.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC add furnace?

Where do you have it in your camper? My only issue with catalytic heaters is my dog. I have a standard Poodle that is quite tall, I don't think I can put in on a counter and be far enough away from the roof, they recommend 3'.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Looking for a used slide-in camper for a 2017 long bed Tacoma

I had a Bronco 600 in a Nissan Frontier long bed, it was pretty heavy (1000# empty), and the cabover was low, I had to raise the camper about 4 inches to clear the cab which gave me a high COG. I sold it last month and just got a FWC Fleet. The fleet is so much lighter as I bought a shell, but...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Counter Top and Table

Ron, That looks great! What did you use for the counter top? Did you buy it as/is or do the T molding yourself? We have a chuck box coming, see pic below, this will be stored back passenger side bench and come out to cook (the legs go on and off easily. The counter will have Sterilite...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC add furnace?

Continuing on the heater theme, we have had the camper just over a week now and sit in it most days after work trying to get a feel on how to set it up. Lot's of projects (I will put up a build thread soon), regarding propane, for the summer, we are going to go it without a heater, heading to...

Exactly!!! I really like the supports and how they allow you to access the narrow storage in the "seats". Any more pics or details would be greatly appreciated, including fastening techniques. Josh

It is time to start customizing out Fleet shell. On the driver's side, we want to put in a counter with space below for bins, so the face will be open with a few support legs. 1. Any thoughts on materials, looking for light, with out sag. 2. We will add an Atwood furnace or whatever FWC is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fuel Cans

Kinsey, Could you post a picture of just the mount? Curios what you attached to. Fuel: In Massachusetts, you can't carry extra fuel (at least for a boat) in a fuel can on a ferry. I was told only fuel that is connected to the engine is allowed, no extra. Wonder if all ferries have this...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Roof Rack Use, Roof Box, Kayaks

Great info everyone. Thanks for all the posts. Our 6' bars are on, now to find a light weight yakima box on CL. We will mount that far right, so that we can access it and still open the vent. The 5' folding ladder is ordered, and should be here in a day or so. My old camper had a crank up...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Nissan Frontier Torklift Front Frame Mounts

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Roof Rack Use, Roof Box, Kayaks

Tips, advise and mods requested. We picked up our Fleet Shell on Monday, and we are starting to make it ours. Regarding the roof, we have the Yakima tracks and already had the control towers, so up went the Yakima rack. On our last slide in, we could stand on the roof, so loading and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rear Steps

Mike, The Fleet will hang just to the end of the bumper so the step in the bumper will be under the camper and not too useful. Josh
