RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New solar panel finally installed

Nice setup. That looks like you are getting some excellent charging from that setup. I have that same monitor too in my toy hauler. Seems to work great.

Timothy - that is fantastic news. Congrats! This is wonderful for you. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have mine.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mount a tv?

I now carry a smaller 12 volt TV with us when we go. It fits well in a cabinet with the front dinette grandby. But I could see how a flip down TV/DVD player would be pretty neat. The wiring would be a little challenging but maybe you could just hang the cord down to the outlets?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Camper discount

+1 On Denny. Great guy. I bought a camper from him last fall. I'd love to hear what the discount is for.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck rolled back, major damage and lots of questions

I'm happy that your vehicle and camper were fixed. I'm sure it is a huge relief to have them back together. I have used these turnbuckles myself and quite like them. They are more work to put on and I did replace the pin with something heavier so that they wouldn't fall off. Here's a link of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Extra Fuel Carry Options?

I like that setup a lot. Where did you buy the parts from? Or was this a custom order?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lockable Hawk Propane Door Latch - Suggestions?

I actually had a combination lock on mine propane tank with my prior Hawk. It worked fine but I agree with the prior comments about forcing open that compartment. I'm sure I could get into it in 2 minutes or less with a hammer or metal bar. I don't camp in a lot of high traffic areas so I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West We Have Our New Hawk....Some Observations and Questions

Congrats on the camper. I love mine and use it all of the time. I'm sure you will figure out all of these fun issues as you learn about the camper. If not we can help out, that's what WandertheWest is all about anyway! Time to post some pictures of the Hawk! We are dying of anticipation...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Trimetric Battery monitor

Bill, I have not tried that one - although it looks interesting and hard to beat the price. I have tried this one out with some interesting results: Zamp Solar BMPRO1 Bluetooth Battery Monitor It works as a shunt to connect directly to your batteries. Then you put an app on your phone...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Trimetric Battery monitor

Installation of the monitor is a great thing for you camper. I love mine and hopefully you will get great use out of it too. It can be a little confusing putting it all together. Once you realize that all of the electricity has to pass through the negative line through the shunt the wiring...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Adding Shore Power and Fuse Panels

Mike, I am actually not very familiar with the wiring in the shell models. I am assuming you already have a fuse box and system in place for the 12 volt circuits you already have? I would recommend looking into the Blue Sea products. They have high quality products that seem to last a long...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West unknown wire ?

MarcBC is correct on wiring behind the lift panels. Prewiring for the solar. This is also a common spot for a short to occur because the panels can pinch the wiring from that location too.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ((Eagle/Fleet)) - Shell Amateur Build

After I added my hard panel to the roof it was definitely more work to lift the roof up. I added 40 lbs to the front and 40 lbs to the back. That helped a lot but still took a fair amount of effort. Then I ordered the next size up from Suspa - 60 lbs front and 60 lbs back. It worked awesome...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Automatic Charge Relay - How to Improve your battery isolator

Bill, I do like your current setup as you would always know that your camper is getting power when you are driving. I am assuming that your solenoid allows charging even if your camper batteries are depleted? I originally thought about putting the monitor in the truck instead of the camper. I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Automatic Charge Relay - How to Improve your battery isolator

Pvstoy, I believe you are correct on the Sure Power isolator vs separator. I pulled up the information from the company and it is labeled as a battery separator. Thanks for the correction.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Automatic Charge Relay - How to Improve your battery isolator

Don, I am not sure that I know how to answer your question but this reference might be helpful: http://assets.bluesea.com/files/resources/instructions/990180180.pdf I have noticed that the sure power isolator struggles to connect under 12.5 volts. I believe below a certain voltage it may not...

There have been several topics and frustrations about charging our camper batteries from the truck. I researched a few different options and came up with this mod which I thought might be helpful to share. A special thanks to Ntsqd - his several great posts gave me the idea. My FWC had been...
