RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Current Spike in Gas Prices

We spent 3 weeks road tripping/backpacking on New Zealand's South Island this spring. "Petro" was around $2.20 NZD per litre. Around $5.80 or so per gallon $US. Checking the internet I see that prices there spiked up to over $2.50 NZD this summer. If I lived there a small diesel flatbed pickup...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Go Bag Necessities

John, As I read your list I realize that I have most of your items in my truck all of the time minus the 357( I have a machete instead). I also store a fleece jacket, British Army thermal pants, gloves, beanie, balaclava, and daypack instead of a duffel bag. I recently purchased a Makita 36v...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tundra rear seat removal

I'm guessing my '14 Tundra seat was 60-70 lbs. I built in a lockable cabinet in it's place to store a 2ton floor jack, cordless impact, air compressor, and misc recovery gear. To me the weight savings is not a factor, but I like having my gear out of sight, organized and somewhat secure.

You're welcome. The RCT is one of my favorite places. Looks like there's going to be an immediate effort to to start the restoration process. It's sad to think that the canyon will never look the same the remainder of my life!

We've had mandatory evacuations the past 5 years so we keep supplies next to the garage door that we can throw into the truck as we're bugging out. In the photo 2 boxes are marked with a single RED X - these are 1st priority items. Boxes marked Two XXs are only if we have time. We have a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Timing Belt Failures On Tundras?

I had the replacements done at 100k intervals on my '03 Tundra. Better than potentially ruining a motor or having it go out in the middle of nowhere. Think of it as replacing your tires - it's just part of the cost of running your rig!

I just received the exact solar charger kit today. The cable from the solar panel is 2" shy of 15'. To test the panel I ran the cable from the front of the roof and down through the turnbuckle access door and plugged it into the controller. The cable from the controller to the battery clips are...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I am starting to really dislike my camper solar

I was just replying to your question on using your multimeter. Testing the batteries is just a first step to verify what your current voltage readings are telling you. After that Cougar Couple gives a lot of things to start checking- it's a process of elimination. Thankfully, you have someone...

To test your batteries set the multi-meter to the lowest VDC setting. My very basic meter has settings of 20,200,and 600 so I set mine at 20 VDC when I'm checking my 12v battery. You should have 2 wire leads coming off the multimeter. Touch the black lead to the negative post of your battery and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Renogy 100Watt Flexible Solar Kit

That's pretty much how I would use a portable setup. I also have a Kubota tractor that I'd like to be able to keep charged up without running a 200' cord. I see that Renogy makes a 100W folding panel kit. It comes with a PMW controller and I sent them a message to see if I can upgrade to a MPPT,
