RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Spring thing

Up here in the Pacific NorthWet, we had 75F temps two days ago! But now it's below normal again. Well, summer usually arrives some time after July 5th, and a more glorious summer can't be had.

So glad you got out with the Teds, and had a celebrity along also! The server is a bit slow and the pictures take a while to show up. But I just let it sit there, and eventually they did. Sometimes I have to refresh the browser and more show up. Our website is slow also -- ours would improve if...

Toyota seems to be pretty conservative with changing the Toyota. Our 2018 has plenty of bells and whistles, but the important features still use knobs and buttons.

My brother has a Tesla 3. In cruise control, it runs the windshield wiper in automatic mode only. But too slowly and he complains he can't see out the window! Bring back the buttons.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Are load range E tires really needed for camper?

Your setup might be differently loaded than ours, but you might take a look at the weight on front and rear axles. At highway speeds, the thicker construction can heat up the tires, which can do some damage. Our Fleet weight is all on the rear axle on our Tacoma, so we need higher rear...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Are load range E tires really needed for camper?

Yup, it's interesting that the answer is often "it depends"! Look at https://www.toyotires.com/media/2125/application_of_load_inflation_tables_20170203.pdf on page 22, where there's E rated tires at different pressures, 65 and 80. For some reason, your tires aren't in the table.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Death Valley - April 2023

Deb sez "YES!" to your comment at the end. On our drive to Las Vegas we went through Furnace Creek. The whole valley was obscured due to dust and sand in the air. It was pretty gnarly conditions to be outside. This lasted much of the way to Las Vegas. The rest of our trip went smoothly...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How wet is southern UT-spring 2023?

I can't answer your question directly, but we were recently in central Nevada. There was some big snow melts that caused streams to block roads in several places. Maybe that's subsided by now -- we were there a bit over a week ago.

Your tire tech doesn't quite have their physics correct. Tire pressure will have only a very small effect on truck tilt and definitely no effect on front tire weight and control. That's purely due to where the "center of gravity" is. For our truck/camper, all the camper weight was on the rear...

We just left the ski3pins after getting chased out of Death Valley due to sandstorms. Anyway both of our rigs' electrical systems seem to not even need solar. Ours hasn't been below 70% even after two nights, and those were cloudy days. On sunny days the battery is near 100% all the time. We...

Your situation is similar to ours, and I struggled with the same question. Most of my hiking and climbing was in running shoes, unless on snow, so I had the same thoughts on truck tires. We do rough roads, however, and punctured a P-rated sidewall early in our new 4WD-ing career (just past the...

We are on our first long tri with an SOK 100Ah battery. For some reason, the BMS is reporting over 200AH. I followed their procedure for initializing — two complete charge/discharge cycles. For now I’m assuming this is an error. But we’ve only dropped to 70% SOC so far. Maybe that’s really 40%...

I’ve used a number of GPS devices, and come to the conclusion that smartphone apps work better. Except for battery life. But even that is becoming reasonable with slightly larger phones in airplane mode. You need to think ahead and load maps ahead of time though.

In our previous home, we left it up all the time, with a corner* of the windows open and the vents slightly open. It was in a carport and saw no sun. Also we left the fridge ajar. Well, once we didn't and paid for it! Anyway, I miss that carport. We could pop it all the way up and it was so easy...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Electrical question…

Your 1000W inverter, at full power, would need over 80 amps at 12 volts. Just be sure your wiring and battery can deliver that.
