RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ordering countertop from FWC

I wish I had known the info that Bill has shared when I did mine 5 years ago. Its holding up well though it would have been nice to have just 3 inches more depth. (bigger is sometimes better). Working in the galley we discovered that if you extend the bed bottom out 6-10 inches without the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West First time camper owner - looking to add struts to popup

Welcome to the family, Grete. Speaker lift is a good way to lift it and it doesn't take up much room. Click on the link to View the video "speaker lift". Cost is around $90. I use it on my Eagle as I have a damaged back. Takes about 3 minutes to put up the top quicker if I used a 12 amp power...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Critique my battery/solar setup before I purchase!

Looks good Eric You will average less than 5 amps per hour draw. 220 watts should give you around 8 amps in on December 22nd and over 10 June 22nd..if you can't tilt the panel into the sun. I don't recall if you have a battery monitor. If not buy something like a Trimetric 2030RV to show your...

3M VHB tape.is what I used to mount our Renogy 26 pound 150 watt panel. Its been up there 13 months now. I check the adhesion once a month - solid as ever. Renogy recomended 6 mounting "plates". I used 8. 6 would have been enough. Mounted full time I'm driving about 700 miles a month.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tailgate width and camper width, how tight is to tight?

I'm reminded of the story about the guy who listed his FWC shell for sale. He got so many phone calls he said the first one who arrives with the cash has it. caller #1 said he would be there the next day at 7 am. At 6am the next day another buyer was pounding on his door with cash in hand. He...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Before the Trimetric 2030-RV battery monitor

Since I am completing year 5 (Eagle shell May 2012), I am updating the "build Post" on what I have learned the last year. The August 2014 update was from my solo 3 week trip to Oregon. (page 6) dealt with cooking inside and batteries. 3 years have passed since that post so thought the new...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Four Wheel vs Hallmark

BackCountry - You mentioned the Grandby and Hallmark have a base weight of 1,095 pounds. I think you will be surprised at the "optioned weight". Our Eagle shell base weight - 595 pounds. The "all up" weight (without camping gear for 2 people) is 1,100 pounds (cabinet, counter, sink. portable...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Top loading fridge/freezer

We run our Engle MT35 through a dedicated 10 gauge wire with a 10 amp fuse. We still use 12v accessory port and the heavy duty plug that came with the Engle. We have been running the fridge that way since 2013 with no problems.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tailgate width and camper width, how tight is to tight?

2trout you don't mention whether the camper will be new or used. Assuming its new is the factory building it to fit your 2002 Tundra? or one of the newer trucks? Bed side wall height is different on different vehicles. If your considering replacing the 2002 in the next couple of years and you...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New or newish truck for my Eagle: mileage, power, fit questions

Movin- Which is one reason I bought the new 2013 Tacoma. I found one used 4WD 2006 Tundra in 9 months of looking. I could find a lot of 2WD models not the 4WD Access cab (looking in 2012). The dealer was asking $24,000 for it with 118,000 miles. And wouldn't go below $22K at the time. Checking...

Rando, we went to our local furniture upholstery shop and had the foam replaced with foam you can sleep on, I don't remember the brand. If you do this and have a camper made before 2013 (when FWC changed their foam to medium hard and height to 3 inches) have the upholsterer change the height...
